Owner/Technician Mark has been active in the world of music and musical instruments since the age of 6. In addition to building and repairing fretted instruments, he is also a working musician who plays piano, acoustic guitar, 5-string banjo (3-finger and Clawhammer styles), mandolin, fiddle, Anglo concertina and the Great Highland Bagpipe. He is currently a member of Kindred Spirits (a local traditional Celtic band) and the City of Melbourne Pipes and Drums (Melbourne's premier Scottish Pipe and Drum band). For the last 3 years he was a member of the Surf Road Project (a bluegrass/jazz band which frequently played on the Florida folk festival circuit). Mark worked for nearly 30 years as an Electrical Engineer before moving into the realm of musical instrument repair on a full time basis. In addition to a lifetime of playing and building a variety of musical instruments (acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, hammered dulcimer, Uilleann Pipes) he is a graduate of the Galloup School of Luthiery in Big Rapids, Michigan and served an 18 month apprenticeship as a repairman to one of the areas local Luthiers.
Frank has been around musical instruments since birth. Before he was born, his father already owned a music school and music store in the Chicago area. Frank spent years as a working musician, writing, recording and performing original Jazz/Rock influenced music. His interest in guitar work started early, modifying various guitars he owned to suit his needs. In 1975 his desire to further his knowledge of proper repair techniques and obtain the necessary Luthier tools was driven by a REALLY BAD fret job on his 1969 Les Paul by an incompetent “Guitar Repairman”. Frank earned a living for over 30 years as an Electronic Engineering Technician, allowing him to support his music and lutherie. After retiring, Frank has been able to devote full time to musical instrument repair. Frank also served an 18 month lutherie apprenticeship and considers himself a lifetime student of musical instrument building and repair.
